While attending a meeting recently I was reminded that I used to do when I was an attendee of a meeting, lecture or class. There was something about that environment which made me more focused, and at my most creative. Usually to the detriment of the topics and themes actually being discussed.

All through High School and University I would be doodling and sketching away in the back of my note book, brainstorming different characters and developing my skills — oblivious to what I was supposed to be doing.

I think that’s what artists are supposed to do. Sure, it’d be great is art was extra-curricular, but it tends to be over-curricular. Superseding the prescribed activity.

It got me thinking that maybe I should go back to uni, or take up a course. Simply to ignore it so I can get some real work done.
