The response to my change of employment have been . . . varied.

There are several who are very supportive of the new direction. While they, of course, have financial concerns for my future (as I do myself) they agree that this is a positive step, and one which should have even been made earlier. Thanks again to these people.

Then there are others who don’t get it at all. I know that they’re concerned, and I appreciate that, but they don’t really understand. Some view it as a phase, a mid-life crisis (glad to know I won’t live to 60), or simple, childish behaviour.

It’s not.

I am well aware of the risks I am taking. I am also well aware of what I will need to do in the next 3-5 years to try and make this work. This will be work. This will be a career path. If it fails, that sucks, but I’ll give it a shot any way.

If I work hard, and if I’m lucky, I’ll make a great webcomic — and you guys will be there to see it.

Here’s to the next 3-5 years. I hope you guys enjoy them.
